==============Wani Ending 4 proposal=============== =================Introduction==================== It is now finally time to get around to the fourth and final ending. We have a self-imposed deadline of ten days to write the final five chapters, henceforth known individually as 'enclosure, news, date, formal, end', and collectively as 'e4'. As the 4th ending, the tone is a lot more upbeat than the rest, specifically e3. Inco and Olivia have both passed their score checks, and this ending is the players' reward. Currently, there are two major challenges for this ending. The first is to deal with the new painting that Olivia creates, and it's relevance and presence in e4. The second is wrapping up all the character arcs in a meaningful, positive way, specifically in regards to Ben. By the conclusion of e4, the player needs to feel a sense of completion and happiness for these characters they've been with for the duration of the game. ================Very Brief Synopsis============== Inco, after being brought into the office by Ben and Mia with the intent of putting the blame for the damaged property on him, decides he's had enough. He tells Ben he's sick of the mind games, and reminds him the whole situation is indirectly his own fault. This gets him to come down off his high horse and tell Mia he's not going to help her out at Inco's expense. She tells Ben he'll regret this, and just leaves. (of course, she is still being punished) Inco goes home to change and then to Damiens' place to see Olivia. He opens her door to find the room pitch black. Olivia has a laptop and sketchpad set up on her bed, and she closed the laptop so she could sneak up on Inco in the complete darkness (note: inco sees the laptop is open to a forum for human women, where she's bragging about taking one of their kind(crystal cafe)). After the scare, Inco asks what the deal is and Olivia embarassingly admits to what happened. Inco actually appreciates and likes it, he finds it endearing. Flipping the lights on, he sees Olivia's been practicing drafting the painting for Iadakan. She's going to ask to have it shown at the formal, so she's putting her all into it. Inco helps clear off the paint from the window a bit while Olivia messes with Guts. After, he convinces her to come out of her room and take a break. They play vidya with the Paynes and order pizza, similar to e3. Inco agrees to go visit the fountain to take pictures of it from all the angles Olivia wants before sundown, but this can be told in post when they're getting ready for bed. Olivia is a bit sad she couldn't go, and gets the idea to go somewhere once she gets her chair back for a date. The following morning, they get news of the formal. After Sophia leaves with Vinny, Olivia invites Inco back to her room to watch something. They lay on her bed watching ruroni kenshin or whatever, and Inco starts passing notes with her like in history class, adding doodles. Inco sketches himself asking Olivia to Prom, and gets a response sketch of him being crushed in a tight hug saying 'you in three seconds', before she rolls over on him and hugs him from behind, remaining there for the duration of the episode. Consider her saying she's got big plans. Once Olivia gets her chair back, she and Inco go out on a date to the city. He asks her where she wants to go, and she decides on a hibachi grill because japan. After, they visit a japanese supermarket for christmas shopping. Olivia's in heaven, and gets a few things (inco says he'll pay). For once, Olivia's actually able to tell Inco a bit about someone elses' culture and we can finally include the title drop gag. Inco gets some great pictures of her he'll treasure forever. Olivia gets some fancy paints for her painting, which she's finally starting for real. The date is a nice reprieve from Olivia's tireless efforts. Finally, the night of the Formal. Inco arrives at the Paynes, Olivia exits her room looking amazing. She's touched up her outfit even further than it's appearance in e2, adding her own artistic flair to it, which Sophia loves (she helped make the dress). The group ride in the limo, and see the sights on the way to the city, carefully bringing the painting along (it's covered so it doesn't get damaged, joke about damien sneezing). At the Formal, Ben is looking more stressed than normal. The two make a beeline for the memorial room, where Olivia makes sure Inco is the first one to see the finished product. The two pay their respects, and witness some other students solemnly enjoying the painting as well while they leave. For dinner, they're joined by Damien and Liz, and it's a grand time as always. Ben joins, and tries telling Olivia he's sorry about things, and she is somewhat neutral (yet positive) on the matter, taking baby steps. When you read this sentence, write your favorite color in olivia story dev so I know who read. Inco and Olivia dance, first to the pop music (ferris breaks it down) and then for *real*. Exhausted, the two embrace. Ben comes to collect Olivia for her speech, leaving Inco and co. to wait for it. While Ben starts giving his own speech, he's interrupted by Mia. She plays the victim, saying she's not dealing with his horrible treatment any longer (claiming he's forcing her to give some speech as well or something (a lie)). She exposes the student council president for being sick, scattering his antipsychotics across the stage and throwing the bottle at Damien, who's stupid enough to read it out loud. Ben is still begging Mia to not hate him as she fakes her tears and tries making a getaway. (1) Ben is in a horrible state now, having been exposed. Inco and Olivia take him back to Inco's place, making a small amount of conversation. Olivia's able to understand Ben's position a *little* better now, and forgives him a *little* more (again, baby steps). He crashes on Inco's couch, and Olivia and Inco go to his room to spend the night. After graduation, the Paynes host another pool party as a graduation party for both Damien and Olivia. Inco, Liz, and Ben also show up. It's great wholesome fun, the paynes are a bit worried about how empty the house will be once everyone's on their way to college and such. The group share the pool. They reminisce about their last year. Olivia takes Inco inside, and shows him the painting from then. She points to a bit she'd left unfinished, and asks him to fill it in. The player gets to make a mark on Olivia's final work. They nap together, making one more summer memory before their lives change. Inco goes off to intern for some A/V broadcasting position while Olivia attends college for art. During the epilogue, Inco states he's enjoyed his internship while Olivia states that college was too restricting and she took most of what they said with a grain of salt, but still participating fully and having earned some reputation for "unorthodox" art. Four years later, Inco and Olivia are back in Volcaldera for the premiere of a small movie a production company they're working for. The two talk about the movie and check out the movie poster Olivia had helped design. The two go inside to meet Liz and Damien, where the four of them catch up. Liz' business is going well (she's selling Olivia's work as well), and Damien is a children's entertainer (like steve from blues' clues). Damien had brought a red carpet so they can have a red carpet premiere (it's a hideous 70's red carpet). After the credits, the four walk out of the theater into the evening, Damien offers to give them a ride home, but Inco and Olivia decline. Inco and Olivia have a romantic reminiscence about what happened in high school and everything that'd led them up to this moment. She ends up flumping inco, and they end up rolling down a hill. They end up in a hug. The two make another visit to the fountain they made a wish at when they confessed to each other. They only have one dime/penny or whatever smaller coin and decide to flip it together hand in hand. It lands in the fountain next to the two quarters they flipped back then. ==========================Characters======================= Inco- Has passed the score check, meaning in this ending he's more self-reliant and doesn't rely on numbers being king anymore. Of course, big numbers are nice and make you go wowie, but they're not the highest priority anymore. He's happy with the joy he's found in the unlikely place he has, and his personal tastes rather than trends. More pressingly, he's self-reliant, he does not need approval from others to decide what he says or does. He is his own man. Olivia- Having passed the check, Olivia is now more open with people and is able to accept help from Inco, who she knows loves her. The view she had before, one of being incredibly cynical and nihilist, has been slain, and has been redirected to her goals and competitivity. Whereas Inco became self-reliant, Olivia becomes more trusting of others again, and sees how things are with a clearer mind. Ben- Ben is put through the wringer in this ending, but ultimately gets out of the horrible arrangement he has with Mia. He does not elaborate on what his sickness is, and doesn't care to. By the end, he needs to come to better terms with how he'd be seen with it, and be on decent terms with Olivia once more to the point of being invited to her party. Mia- Gets revenge on Ben for not doing her will. She presumably skips town after that last incident, but currently it's unclear (see remaining issues, below) =======================Remaining issues================== (1). Mia's comeuppance needs happening, and it needs to be good. Obvious answer is to use mr. ferris, since he is security at the formal, but that is *extremely* similar to spears manhandling trish after what she pulls. Not good. Also not good is what happens after. If she's expected to play a role in the ending, that's a *very* tall order given her actions. (2). The date in this ending lacks some substance, we will need something. (3). There needs to be more moments in this ending showing how Inco is his own man, and how Olivia has overcome her fear of patronization and nihilist mindset she had before.
